Stereoscopic 3D Projection Theater

The stereoscopic 3D projection theater is located in the Cultural Center of Ierissos, which also houses the Folklore Museum, the exhibition “Agion Oros: 1000 years, 100 photographs”, the exhibition “The Earthquake of 1932”, as well as works from exhibitions from 2004 to the present.

The 3D theater has been showing digital stereoscopic – 3D video projections since 2004. In April of 2016, the theater’s audiovisual equipment was significantly upgraded with the installation of state-of-the-art projectors, so now the shows are even more spectacular.

A magical, three-dimensional journey into the sanctums of Agion Oros. A 3D presentation of the monastic space and way of life. Experience the thousand-year-old Monastic State with its continuous, unbroken history since the 10th century CE. In the Garden of Panagia (Virgin Mary), where serenity and oblivion about worldly things prevail, man is led to the exultation of his soul and spiritual uplifting. The sound of bells that interrupts the wind rustling in the trees, the waves lashing the steep coastline, the voices singing pure Byzantine hymns, create the uniqueness that the soul desires. This stereoscopic pilgrimage highlights the Ecumenicalism and timeless message of the Ark of Orthodox Christianity. The goal is to display the cultural and religious heritage of Agion Oros to the world, especially to women who, due to the “avaton”, cannot experience the miraculous reality of the Holy Mount in person.

Experience the magic of gilthead breams and snappers swimming around you and manta rays passing overhead, but be careful not to touch the moray eels! Try to catch the huge groupers and tuna fish but hide from the dangerous sharks hunting for their prey. Enjoy the magical dance of the jellyfish and the fantastical parade of tiny, flashy exotic fish. This 3D film shown exclusively at Ierissos, Halkidiki, is a production of the Cultural Center and was filmed at CretAquarium in Heraklion, Crete (www.cretaquarium.gr).

A stereoscopic presentation of the Holy Mount that combines information on the Byzantine architecture, the monastic way of life, and the beauty of the natural landscape on the Athos Peninsula. This film allows you to “enter” into the churches and the dining halls (“trapeza”) where monks take their meals. Wander through the lush nature of the Athos Peninsula, pass through Karyes, the capital town of Agion Oros, and exit back into our world, through this 3D projection.
